When is recalibration required?

Per manufacturer guidance, an ADAS-equipped vehicle needs recalibration after any of the following:

• Windshield replacement
• Collision repair
• Front end alignment
• Suspension repair or ride-height change
• Camera or radar sensor replacement
• SRS deployment
• ECM, PCM or ECU replacement
• Change in tire size
• ADAS warning lights on or flashing codes

Frequently asked questions

Does a windshield replacement require ADAS calibration?

On almost any vehicle with a forward-facing camera mounted to the glass, yes. Removing and replacing the windshield changes the camera's position and aim, and manufacturers require a recalibration afterward. Skipping it means lane keeping, automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning may react late, early, or not at all.

What is the difference between static and dynamic calibration?

Static calibration is done with the vehicle stationary in a controlled space, using OEM targets set at exact distances and heights. Dynamic calibration is done by driving the vehicle at a specified speed on suitable roads while the module learns. Many vehicles require both, in a specific order — the manufacturer's procedure decides, not the shop.

How long does a calibration take?

Most single-system calibrations run 1 to 2 hours once the vehicle is prepped. Vehicles needing multiple systems, or a static plus dynamic procedure, can take half a day. Pre-existing faults, ride-height problems or bad alignment can add time because they must be corrected before calibration is valid.

Do you come to my shop, or does the vehicle come to you?

Both. We run mobile service across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex for calibrations and diagnostics that can be completed on site. Static calibrations that require a level floor, controlled lighting and precise target placement are performed in our Garland bay.

What documentation do I get?

A complete pre-repair scan, a post-repair scan confirming systems are clear, and calibration documentation for each system we worked on — printable and ready to attach to the repair file for the customer or the insurer.

What happens if an ADAS system is not calibrated after a repair?

The system may still appear to work with no warning light while aiming several degrees off. At highway speed a small aiming error becomes a large targeting error, so braking and steering assistance can trigger at the wrong moment or fail to trigger at all. It is also a documented liability exposure for the shop that released the vehicle.

Do you work on privately owned vehicles, or only for shops?

Mostly shops — collision centers, glass installers, dealers and independent repairers — but we do take select privately owned vehicles directly. Send the vehicle details through the request form and we'll tell you where you stand.
