ADAS Calibration Handoff Guide for DFW Body, Glass and PDR Shops

By NOS Diagnostics & Calibrations · Published

At a glance

Send the VIN, the installed equipment if known, the actual repair scope (what was removed, replaced or adjusted), any warning messages and whether a scan report exists. We review that against the manufacturer procedure, confirm whether the work fits a mobile visit or our Garland bay, agree who runs which scans, and then quote. Afterwards, ask for documentation showing what was performed and the result.

Educational guidance only. Exact requirements depend on current manufacturer service information for the vehicle.

What to send before we quote

  1. VIN — the full 17 characters, so the build and equipment can be identified.
  2. Equipment — the driver-assistance features you know are fitted, if you have them.
  3. Repair scope — the parts and panels actually removed, replaced or adjusted, not just “front hit” or “hail”.
  4. Warning messages — anything showing on the dash before or after the repair.
  5. Scan reports — whether pre- or post-repair scans exist. Ask us how to share the report.
  6. Location and timing — where the vehicle is and when it is ready for calibration.

When your shop runs its own scans

Many shops already run pre- and post-repair scans. Tell us before we quote, so we can plan around them where that is appropriate and avoid duplicate work. Where the manufacturer's calibration procedure includes its own scan or initialization step, that step is still part of the calibration.

Agree who does what
ItemAgree before the visit
Pre-repair scanWho ran it and whether the report is available.
CalibrationWhich sensors are in scope and which method the procedure requires.
Post-repair scanWhether your shop or NOS performs it after calibration.
Prerequisite repairsWho is responsible for alignment, mounts or wiring that must be correct first.

Vehicle and site conditions: mobile or bay

Whether we can calibrate at your shop depends on the method the procedure calls for and whether your site can meet its conditions. Target-based procedures typically need clear space, a suitable floor, even lighting and an uncluttered background. Road procedures need suitable roads and weather. If your site cannot meet a procedure's conditions, we plan the work at our Garland bay instead.

  • Repairs that affect the sensor complete, including mounts and connectors.
  • Tires, loading and ride height as the procedure lists.
  • Fault codes that would block calibration addressed or identified in advance.

Evidence to ask for afterwards

  • Which sensors were calibrated and the method used.
  • The manufacturer procedure or reference the work followed.
  • The completion result reported by the tool or procedure.
  • Any limitation, such as a step that could not be completed and why.

We do not publish turnaround promises. Timing depends on the vehicle, the procedure, the site and our schedule, and we confirm it when we book.

Questions

Can I send a scan report through the request form?
The form accepts photos only. Ask us how to share the report and we will arrange it.
Do you come to our shop?
Often, when the vehicle's procedure and your site conditions allow. If they do not, we plan the work at our Garland bay.
What if our post-repair scan is already done?
Tell us when you send the job. Calibration may still be required, and any scan step inside the manufacturer's calibration procedure is part of that work.
